Hai Long 2 &3 OWF Project: OSS Topsides start sailing to Taiwan

On April 16, 2024, at PTSC Downstream Port in Vungtau City (Vietnam), the topside of the Hai Long 2 offshore substation platform (OSS), integral to the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 OWF Project, commenced its journey to the Taiwan Strait. This follows the earlier transportation of the 02 jackets to Taiwan in March 2024. This achievement comes from the utmost efforts of the consortium between Semco Maritime A/S and PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C) after nearly 18 months of dedicated work since November 2022.

The Hai Long Offshore Wind Project, consisting of Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 wind farms in the Taiwan Strait around 45-70 kilometers off the coast, is jointly developed by Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Northland Power Inc., and Gentari International Renewables Pte. Ltd. with a total installed capacity of 1,022 MW. The Hai Long Offshore Wind Project will contribute to the realization of the Taiwanese government’s ambition of reaching 5.6 GW installed offshore wind capacity by 2025 and securing a leading position for Taiwan in offshore wind in East Asia. The consortium led by Semco Maritime A/S with PTSC M&C entered the EPCC contract with Hai Long Offshore Wind Project from July 2022, covers for detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the two offshore substations including jackets. All facilities under the project were fabricated at PTSC M&C’s yard in Vungtau City, Southern Vietnam.
The topside sail-away marks a crucial milestone in the project's progress, symbolizing the seamless collaboration between Semco Maritime A/S and PTSC M&C over the past five years. The successful integration of strengths, know-how, advantages and experiences has been instrumental in achieving this milestone, alongside their unwavering commitment to meeting project schedule, ensuring safety, and delivering top-notch quality to customers. It's worth highlighting that the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 OWF Projects represent just the beginning of a promising collaboration between the two parties in offshore wind power sector, a partnership that commenced in 2019.
